A Major Milestone Completed
The room was tense at this particular Career and College Connection session. This was the moment for which they had all been preparing their entire educational careers: submitting their first college applications.

ut the Career and College Connection sessions, Young Professionals have been working with Genesys Works staff to find assemble their college applications. They began by researching schools that match their career interests and educational goals. Next, they learned the about the details and documents necessary for a college application. In late September, the Young Professionals were able to gain first-hand knowledge and advice from a panel of admissions counselors from some of the colleges and universities to which they were applying. Finally, it was down to taking the ACT and writing, re-writing, and again re-writing their essays and personal statements.
Finally, it was time for our Young Professionals to plant the seed and watch it grow. At this particular Career and College Connection session, Class 2 furiously put on the finishing touches and clicked print or submit on their first college applications, marking the successful completion of a major milestone in the road to college.
As of now, a few Young Professionals have already started to see the fruit of their labor as Darnell Ratliff, Jessica Velazquez, Iyesha Thornton, and Eduardo Perez have already been accepted into one of their colleges of choice.
