Accenture Foundation Supports Expansion of Genesys Works - Chicago
No organization can be successful without the support of those who believe in its mission and purpose. Genesys Works is no exception to the rule. In order for Genesys Works to continue to change the trajectory of the lives of the high school students they engage, they need support from organizations that whole-heartedly believe in the program's ability to achieve success.
One such organization is the Accenture Foundation. Genesys Works - Chicago is honored to announce that the foundation has contributed $100,000 towards expansion in the Chicago branch of Genesys Works.
In many of the neighborhoods reached by Genesys Works - Chicago, low-income students have found that the idea of entering the corporate world is a mere dream. A cycle of dismissing formal education for employment at minimum-wage jobs is an ever-growing reality as only 55.8% of high school students graduated and nearly 10% of enrolled students "dropped out" of school in 2010, according to statistics from Chicago Public Schools[1].
However, through programs such as Genesys Works, that dream is becoming a reality. The Accenture Foundation, understanding the impact that the program can have on low-income high school students, has allowed for Genesys Works - Chicago to realize tremendous growth, more than doubling the number of students engaged in the program from 2010 to 2011.
In addition, Accenture has been a key part of the Genesys Works - Chicago family since 2010. The organization has been very active, supporting Genesys Works - Chicago with over sixty employee volunteers at events throughout the year.
Accenture is a key client of Genesys Works, continuing to provide Genesys Works - Chicago with a set of internships for our Young Professionals to learn and grow with job experience each year.
We thank the Accenture Foundation for their continued support of Genesys Works - Chicago. Their contributions to Genesys Works have driven the organization forward and had a great impact on the futures of the students of Genesys Works.
