With
his engine running and his pistons kicking, this is how
Nguyen Tran, also known as "TransAm," moved from an average,
shy high school student into a young outgoing professional
at Reliant Energy.
Nguyen started his journey at Genesys Works in the summer
of 2007 when he decided that he wanted to follow his dream
of becoming an astronaut. Nguyen claims that
immediately after hearing the Genesys Works representatives
at his high school, some thing triggered his mind and made
him realize that it was time to focus on his future.
He knew then, that Genesys Works had the "connections" that
would take him to a better and brighter future. He was
right, but it has been his hard work and dedication to his
education that have taken him to a new level in his life.
Nguyen is a different student now compared to who he was
when he first came to the Genesys Works program. The
shy and introverted high school student lost in the motions
was long gone. Nguyen admits that before Genesys he
was a good student but he was missing the motivation and the
goal setting principles he learned at Genesys
This young professional took all he could from the
training program and when he was placed at Reliant Energy,
he blossomed. As soon as he got to go Reliant Energy
his easy going personality and willingness to always do his
best made it easy for him to connect with his co-workers.
Even his supervisor, Christopher Montano, noticed Nguyen's
abilities and speed with computers and gave him the
"TransAm" nickname.
After his one year term at Reliant as part of the Genesys
Works Program, his supervisors did not want to see the
velocity and potential of "TransAm" go. Nguyen was
moved to the Customer Operations department of Reliant where
he is able to work and continue his education at the
University of Houston, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Nguyen Tran has a long and exciting road ahead of him.
He is developing skills at the workplace and more
importantly he is pursuing his education with passion!
"TransAm" is going at his full potential and we will see
more of him.
