HOUSTON, TX (August 11, 2010)  Genesys Works, a national non-profit organization headquartered in Houston, Texas,  announces multiple successes in support of  its strategic plan for national expansion. Since its inception in 2002, the organization has grown from its Houston origins to include Minneapolis/Twin Cities and Chicago, with several more U.S. locations planned by 2015. The organization's recently released 2009 Annual Review showcased powerful growth and student achievement results despite a challenging economic environment. In fact, Genesys Works engaged more students in more jobs with more companies than ever before in 2009. These high marks have ultimately contributed to momentum, leading to two significant partnerships and the launch of a national office.

"Genesys Works is working to connect business with education so that the students that leave our public education system are on a trajectory to successfully perform the jobs that our American companies will require this century," says founder and CEO Rafael Alvarez.

In recent weeks, the board of directors of New Profit Inc. approved a significant multi-year investment in Genesys Works. With this investment, Genesys Works joins some of the most innovative social enterprises in the country which have expanded significantly with New Profit's involvement, including Teach For America, KIPP, Citizen Schools and Year Up. As part of the agreement, Genesys Works will receive its largest ever multi year grant and significant consulting resources to plan and prepare for expansion both to multiple new cities as well as in the cities in which it now operates.

"Being part of the New Profit portfolio is a great testament to the potential of the Genesys Works model to change the lives of thousands of youth and have a transformational impact on the education system of America," said Rafael Alvarez. "We are thrilled to be in the company of the social enterprises that I have admired for years," he added.

The Jenesis Group, a national supporter of social entrepreneurs, is backing Genesys Works' workforce development model with a $400,000 one year investment. Jenesis' investment confirms that Genesys Works' model is gaining traction as an effective approach in preparing low-income students for the jobs of the future.  This degree of partnership will help Genesys Works fully establish its national office and pilot key initiatives intended to improve the financial efficiency of the organization as it begins to scale across the country.
