Sahaar Rezaie

Executive Director

Sahaar brings with her over 12 years of experience in workforce development programs and technology in both the private and public sector. Sahaar started her career in the Ad and Mar Tech space within a Business Development capacity. During her time in the private sector, Sahaar began volunteering as a guest lecturer for Opportunity Youth students, which is where her passion for workforce development programs was first sparked.

Most recently, Sahaar was the Founding Regional Vice President for YUPRO, a Public Benefit Corporation specializing in Impact Hiring. During her time at YUPRO, Sahaar managed key enterprise accounts and focused on building out the program across six markets and states. Prior to YUPRO, Sahaar served as the Director of Corporate Engagement for Year Up in the Bay Area, where she oversaw the internship and outcomes departments.

Sahaar received her B.A. Degree in Global and International Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Mackenzie Betrone-Harpst

Director of Development

Mackenzie comes to Genesys Works with a history of convening resources to support scaling youth-serving organizations. A proud product of public schools, Mackenzie has worked for nearly a decade to advance partnerships that bolster public school systems. Her development responsibilities have included institutional funding, individual major gifts, special events, grant writing, marketing and communications, volunteer management, and development administration. Most recently, she served as the inaugural Director of Development for Youth Guidance’s flagship program, Becoming A Man (BAM), as it launched its first geographic expansion outside of Chicago. Mackenzie has also held leadership roles at Outward Bound, Living Classrooms, and International Field Studies.

Mackenzie holds a Masters of Public Policy from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Anh Vo

Anh comes to Genesys Works with a strong belief in human potential and is convinced that anybody is capable of being remarkable, they just need an opportunity. She spent most of her childhood in Sikiew refugee camp. Perseveringly, she worked her way up to get to the US, go to college and graduate from San Jose State University with a degree in Marketing as a Dean’s scholar. She joined Genesys Works to work closely with leadership, the Board of Directors and staff to create opportunities for underserved young professionals. Prior to her role as Corporate Partner Manager, she worked as a Business Manager, where she has cultivated, negotiated and stewarded over 50 different business accounts from big to small and generated consistent growth. She is excited to bring her talents to Genesys Works to create a big impact on the students and the program!

Chelsea Segal

Program Manager

Chelsea comes to Genesys Works with a passion for guiding young adults to create their own paths to success and understand their own capabilities. She has worked with youth in different capacities including facilitating workshops in juvenile detention centers, coordinating county-wide academic programs and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama. She is honored to be part of the Genesys Works team and thankful to be working with the motivated young professionals that come through the Bay Area program.

She has a BA in Sociology and minors in Community Action Social Change and Spanish from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and a Masters in Public Administration with a specialization in Intercultural Competence from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.

Ebony Hebert

Ebony is an Oakland native and a first generation college graduate with a BA in Sociology. She has always been extremely passionate about being involved with and uplifting the community that she comes from. Ebony has shown this passion through her many work and volunteer experiences with other non-profits whose missions were to empower youth who come from disadvantaged communities. She has joined Genesys Works to continue to positively impact youth that are living and growing up in disadvantaged communities by helping them overcome the many different obstacles they may face and provide them with opportunities to help them build a successful future.

Peony Yu

In 2014, Peony joined Genesys Works as a young professional in the first ever Bay Area cohort. Her parents immigrated to the US more than 20 years ago with the goal to provide a better education for their children. She became one of the first in her family to attend a four-year college and was able to work for several amazing companies. Peony received a BA in Public Health Policy and a minor in Management from UC Irvine. After graduating, she worked for a nonprofit assisting seniors to live an independent life and later joined Genesys Works. After experiencing how Genesys Works has positively changed her life, Peony is excited to guide the next wave of young professionals to success!
